Hey Kids!

After talking with many of you, it became apparent that not everyone remembers our classmates faces or names for that matter. The cause seems to be that, over the years, and through many moves, yearbooks got tossed out, or misplaced.

So, to refresh your memories (or to tease your brain,) I've installed the slideshow at right to help everyone get back up to speed. It is my hope that the names will slowly come back to you, and too, the funny memories as well.

Golf Tournament Details

Hello golf fans! Here is the information for the SA 30-Yr Reunion Golf Tournament:

When: August 1, 2008

First Tee Time: 10am

Fees: $60 pp*

Where: World renowned Los Verdes Golf Course, 7000 W. Los Verdes Dr., Rancho Palos Verdes CA 90274

Format: 4 or 5 person scramble. Requests to be paired with someone in particular are welcome.

Who: Any "Class of 1978" alum, spouse, or guest.

Why?: For fun! Your skill level is not an issue; God created all Saints equal! The scramble format ensures no pressure and that everyone has a GREAT time.

Happy Valentines Day; feel the love....

Ah...Valentine's Day. A day of heart-shaped: jewelry (ack! cool if you're a fifth grader,) candy boxes (dark chocolate for me thanks,) and red and pink cards. It's a day when those with a significant other feel compelled (pressured?) to show their love through the act of gift giving.

If I sound sore on the holiday, I'm not. Just a little disenchanted with the tired and redundant advertisements where everything looks the same. I think love ought to be shown every day in little ways, big ways, meaningful ways, not just Feb. 14.

Take Terri Duron Klein for instance. In a recent phone conversation (drumming up deposit money for the reunion,) Joy Orduna Lorenzana learned that Terri and Chris' son, Dan Klein, is a freshman baseball player at UCLA. Dan is a right handed pitcher. The love and pride was just exploding from Terri's heart when she told Joy about Dan.

That's the love I want to hear about. That's what I want to share with all of you; your everyday Valentine stories. Send me a note, tell me your tale. I'll post it here.


And now for some Chocolate factoids...

• Dark chocolate does not spike your blood sugar. (My favorite factoid.)
  
• Eating dark chocolate in moderation can actually prolong your life by reducing risk of blood clots and fighting bad cholesterol. (What better health food is there?)
  
• Dark chocolate lowers blood pressure. (Who could be stressed eating chocolate?)
  
• Americans eat on average 14 lbs of chocolate per year. (Cuz there are no calories in chocolate.)

There are just 150 some odd days left till the reunion, and like any big event, the venue, the entertainment, the food, all require a deposit. You know what I mean...money, mula, ka-ching!

Hobbies, Interests, Passions

In this information age, we've grown a little shy about voluntarily giving out too much of our personal info. It's no small wonder with identity theft rising every year, and marketing agencies harvesting personal data to sell us something we don't need.

However, I hope that you'll relax a little and share some of your interests with the rest of the class. Not to give too much away, but what the committee hopes to do is help break the ice at the reunion by making it easy for everyone to, first, identify each other, but also, in an unobtrusive manner, identify common interests.

We've come a long way since high school. Some of us have:
traveled,
married,
divorced,
kids,
no kids,
careers,
golfed,
played music,
built communities,
saved someone,
knitted a sock,
made art,
served our country,
danced,
fed the hungry,
wrote a poem,
landscaped their yard,
tiled their bathroom,
raised chickens,
tattooed their body,
etc, etc, etc.

We've been places, we've seen things, and we know so much more than we did when we were coming of age. We have so much to share with one another.

This reunion is a celebration of our youth, but it's also an opportunity to share our lives and our wisdom. To learn that, though we may have lost touch with each other, we have many common threads.
